Title Wind Analysis of Communication Tower

Abstract Communication towers play a vital role in today’s world Communication and they contribute a large percentage to the total cost of its network. The structural design of a Communication tower is most often governed by IS: 802 (part 1/ Sec2): 1992 (Material, loads and permissible stresses for communication towers) used together with the provision of revised code on wind loading (i.e., IS: 875(part 3): 1985. An analytical-numerical modeling technique for predicting and simulating the ultimate structural behaviors of self-supporting Communication towers under static and Wind load conditions is presented and proposed as a rational procedure for stability assessment in a design stage. The numerical results obtained from a 3D model are discussed in relation to the behavior and the mechanism of collapse of a typical tower. STAAD Pro application software is used for automatic generation of data necessary for the analysis.
